The Drive-Thru Rack
Key Features
-
Drive-thru racks, also known as drive-through racks, are similar to drive-in racks, but they provide access to the pallets from both sides of the rack. Forklifts can enter from one side to load pallets and exit from the other side, allowing for a first-in, first-out (FIFO) storage system.
-
Since the forklifts can access pallets from both ends of the rack, the first pallet loaded is also the first pallet that can be retrieved.
-
Pallets are stored on guide rails or runners, similar to drive-in racks.
-
Provides better selectivity than drive-in racks, as pallets can be accessed from two sides.
-
Drive-thru racks are suitable for products with expiration dates, where stock rotation is crucial to ensure older stock is used first, and for items with varying SKUs and a relatively low number of pallets per SKU.
